About me

As a child all I ever created were drawings of horses and occasionally ballerinas. I fantasised daily about owning my own horse. Then when I was 10 years old my father’s friend gifted me a horse to look after as my own for a long as I wanted to. It was a black stallion called Buccaneer and yes; you read it right, a stallion! Initially anyway.

I don’t even have the words for the joy that horse brought me, the wonderful memories I have of the adventures we went on together and the bond that many of you will understand. Then, when I was 12 years old (hankies at the ready folks) my family moved house and I had to say goodbye to my best and truest friend.

Decades later I would reconnect with horses but more about that later…

Life moved in a different direction and I started a new school with new friends. Went off to college and had my children at quite a young age. When they were 6 and 2 years of age we knew our family would need more income longer term so I went to University to get my degree in Social Policy at Royal Holloway University of London. Let me tell you friends; not an easy task managing a full-time degree and two small children. I lost count of the times when trying to research (we didn’t have google then) or writing essays at 2 in the morning that I almost quit but the important point is; I didn’t. It taught me a lot about managing a lot of moving parts.

Side note: If I am twittering on a bit …. Jump over to my Why Work With Me Page or stay put as I will get to the part about my re-connection with horses.

Unexpected doors opened for me and I found myself in the corporate world. I don’t regret my time there because I learned a lot about tech and met some incredibly smart and talented people but I always knew that I didn’t fit so I continued to learn things that would make it possible for me to help small businesses so I could jump out of that world. For a long while fear and self-doubt plagued me but as I read somewhere “courage is about being scared but doing it anyway”. So here I am!

Interestingly, whilst still in Corporate, a Standout report, which is a strengths-based talent development tool designed to measure how well you match 9 different roles, revealed that my top two roles were Teacher / Creator and represented my instinctive way of making a difference in the world.

When asked if I agreed with this it was a firm no from me but the further I went over it with a coach the more I could see that there were definite parallels with the way I worked.

I have always done my best to learn new things, pass that knowledge on and get creative where possible. To be honest I am a bit of a “serial” learner. I can nerd out all day long if I have the time. I had never seen the teacher in me but there it is. I like to teach, create and share.

My re-connection with horses:

A special birthday was coming up and I chose to go to a Dude Ranch in Arizona. Even I didn’t realise the gaping hole of horselessness (is that even a word?) I had until this birthday choice filled it. The picture shows how happy I am I think!

Now I volunteer for the RDA and I am passionate about the healing power of horses.

I have taken my experience in the technology industry and combined it with my love for all things horse-related and now I offer Email Marketing, Project Management and Website Development services.

Why The Name Bwee

A family member used this word anytime she wanted something she loved. She would squeal the word Bwee which to her meant all things wonderful.

Why The Quote?

As a child I watched a film called the Miracle Worker about a teacher, Anne Sullivan and her deaf and blind student Helen Keller, and their intense journey to find connections that opened the door for communication.

In her words “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”  Helen Keller
